SHILLONG, MAR 2: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today thanked the people of Khasi and Jaintia Hills region for reposing their faith in the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) and its partners in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA).
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people of Khasi and Jaintia Hills region for the support they have shown and the faith they have reposed on the National People’s Party and also the constituents of the MDA,” Sangma said on Saturday.
The NPP has emerged as the single largest party in the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) by winning 12 of the 29 seats, while the Congress with 10 seats in the KHADC.
However, the strength of the MDA (NPP-7, UDP-6, HSPDP-2, and PDF-1) in the KHADC is 19 with the support of 3 Independents.
The chief minister further assured the people of the Khasi and Jaintia Hills and the whole state of Meghalaya that the MDA government would continue to take the state forward.
“Now with this new mandate in the JHADC and KHADC we will work unitedly together to take the district councils, the government and state forward,” Sangma said.By Our Reporter
