CM lays foundation stone for Chenanggre stadium in NGH

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma jan 20SHILLONG, JAN 20: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday laid the foundation for Chenanggre Stadium at Adokgre in North Garo Hills.

The stadium is being constructed at a cost of Rs 6.24 crore and is expected to be completed by December 2022.

Speaking at the foundation laying ceremony, CM said that the stadium will encourage sport talents of Garo Hills.

He also informed the gathering that Adokgre holds special significance to him as his late father PA Sangma would always start his election campaign from this place.

He also stated that his father won every election he contested and had named Adokgre as “Chenanggre”, which means land of victory.

Sangma said that the Chenanggre Stadium will be one of the biggest Stadium in entire North Garo Hills and will give an opportunity for the youth to partake in sporting events.

He said that it has been the endeavour of MDA govt to improve the sporting facilities and invest in the potential of the youth. He lauded efforts of the local MLAs for working with concerted effort in ensuring that development reaches every nook and corner of the State.

At Adokgre, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma in presence of MLAs Rupert Momin and Pongseng Marak inaugurated the new building of the Adokgre Secondary School amidst fun fare. The School building has been funded by Asian Development Bank’s  Supporting Human Capital Development.

Inaugurating the school building, CM said that the government has been working with utmost priority to enhance the educational infrastructure across the State. He also said that the government is giving priority to upscale school infrastructure in LP and UP schools.

Speaking at the foundation laying ceremony of the historic “Chenanggre Stadium” MLA of Kharkutta Rupert Momin lauded the effort of the govt in putting it’s trust to improve the overall development scenario in Garo Hills. He said that MDA govt under the leadership of Conrad Sangma will take Meghalaya to its greater height.

He also reminded the gathering of naming the stadium at Adokgre as Chenanggre Stadium.
