SHILLONG, OCT 1: The embattled and controversial CMJ University chancellor Chandra Mohan Jha reappeared before the Meghalaya CID sleuths for the second time on Tuesday after he had reported to them on September 19 and then had left for his home state Bihar.
Jha met the Meghalaya CID sleuths in the forenoon at around 11am as the state investigating agency is carrying out probe against his private varsity since April after the then Meghalaya governor RS Mooshahary had filed an FIR with the CID alleging that the university was giving fake certificates.
Sources said that Jha has reportedly been ordered to report before the sleuths till Friday.
Earlier Jha had appeared before the CID from September 19-21. He, however, did not appear on September 22 when he was suppose to make his appearance and instead he informed the investigating officers through an email that he had to rush to Bihar to attend to his ailing wife.
Jha had obtained an anticipatory bail from the Supreme Court in July, and the apex court had fixed October 8 as the next day of hearing on the bail issue.
Jha and his CMJ University got into trouble after Mooshahary- who in his capacity as governor was the university visitor- had alleged that there had been “mismanagement, mal-administration, indiscipline and failure” in accomplishing the objectives of the private university.
After Mooshahary had lodged an FIR against the CMJ University on April 26 Sa police case was also registered with the CID police station (Case No. 2 (4) 2013 under Sections 420/406/466 IPC).
On Saturday, the CID sleuths had handed over the CMJ University office, which is housed within Modrina Mansion at Laitumkhrah, to the university officials after it was seized in May. – By Our Reporter
