SHILLONG, APRIL 16: Chief Minister and National People’s Party (NPP) national president Conrad K Sangma today categorically denied that some party MLAs are helping Congress MP Vincent H Pala in the just concluded Lok Sabha polls.
“I don’t think there is any fact in that,” Sangma told reporters on Tuesday.
Former Nongthymmai legislator Jemino Mawthoh of the United Democratic Party is the common candidate of the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance for the Shillong parliamentary seat.
The chief minister said that clear instructions were given not just to MLAs and MDCs of the NPP but to all the members of the MDA that they must work for the common candidate of the alliance Jemino Mawthoh.
Sangma however did not disagree that there are people who might have supported the opposition Congress nominee but said, “That is something which is not possible for me to comment as I cannot follow every individual.”
