SHILLONG, JUNE 21: UDP leader and former chief executive member Titosstarwell Chyne on Wednesday was appointed as the new leader of opposition in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
A notification issued by the Secretary of the KHADC said that the Chairman Lamphrang Blah has recognized Chyne as the LO of the KHADC with effect from June 20.
Earlier, Chyne told reporters that all the 12 MDCs have proposed his name to the chairman for appointment as LO.
He informed that the opposition will be raising issues relating to the border dispute, uniform civil code and others.
Chyne said he had convened a joint meeting of the CEMs of the three autonomous district councils – KHADC, JHADC and GHADC to oppose the UCC. “I will again raise this issue to ensure the House is also united against the UCC,” he added. Chyne said that the opposition will also pressurize the present EC to follow up the initiatives taken by the UDA-led EC.
