Shillong, Sept 10 : Meghalaya Minister for Social Welfare JA Lyngdoh inaugurated the Carmel Attard Youth Centre at St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School premises, Marbisu on September 8 where the local MDC L Blah, Fr. Pascal Lyngdoh and parish priest of Marbisu.
Lyngdoh contributed `Rs. 10 lakhs to the Youth Centre from his MLA scheme 2009-2010.
Inaugurating the centre Lyngdoh said that the long awaited dream of the youth of the Marbisu and its surrounding areas has been fulfilled by the inauguration of the Carmel Attard Youth Centre. He informed that besides sports and games, different vocational classes like music, computer, typing, tailoring, embroidery, wiring, electronics and motor mechanic will be imparted to the youth in the center.
Lyngdoh hoped that the centre would be of immense benefit to the unemployed youth and transform the rural economy through vocational training programs conducted in the centre.
Lyngdoh also said that this kind of project is the need of the hour to solve the problem of unemployment and minimize the unproductiveness of the youth. He assured all possible help and support to the centre in its endeavour to serve the society in general and the youth in particular.
Later in the day Lyngdoh unveiled the plaque to mark the inauguration of the Carmel Attard Youth Centre. – By Our Reporter
