SHILLONG, JAN 16: The state Cabinet on Wednesday approved the proposal for extending the revised pay to the teaching and non-teaching staffs of deficit pattern secondary schools in the state.
After the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters that the decision was taken based on the recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission.
“They are also entitled to the pay structure recommended and accepted by the government with effect from January 1, 2017,” Tynsong said.
He said there are nine deficit pattern secondary schools in the state.
Asked, the deputy chief minister said with the implementation of the proposal, the additional expenditure would increase by 2.5 crore annually.
Meanwhile, the cabinet has also approved the proposal to merge the national pension scheme for the employees of the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE), who at present are entitled to contributory provident fund (CPF).
