SHILLONG, NOV 26: The state Cabinet on Monday approved the proposal for replacing the resolution on inclusion of Khasi and Garo languages in the Eight Schedule to the Constiution of India during the one day special session of the Assembly to be held on Tuesday.
After the meeting, Home Minister James K Sangma told reporters that the resolution for urging the Centre to include Khasi and Garo languages in the Eight Schedule will again be passed in the House tomorrow.
He said it was felt that resolution passed earlier by the Assembly on September 27, this year requires few changes.
“There have been necessary corrections which have been incorporated to the resolution and this will be taken up in the special session to be taken place tomorrow,” Sangma said.
There has been a growing demand from different quarters including the Khasi Authors Society (KAS) on the need to rectify the flaws in the resolution by convening a special session.
According to them, the resolution if forwarded in its present form may not be considered by the Central government.
