SHILLONG, SEP 17: The Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday celebrated the BSF Wives Welfare Association (BWWA) Day at BSF campus in Mawpat, Shillong.
BWWA Day is an annual event celebrated in September, dedicated to the upliftment and welfare of families associated with BSF.
It serves as an occasion for families to come together, share experiences, and discuss various matters. BWWA is a registered society under the Registrar of Societies in Delhi, established in 1992 with the primary objectives of ensuring the welfare of both active and retired BSF members and their families.
It extends support to widows and aids in their rehabilitation while also offering vocational training for economic empowerment.
The celebration commenced with the ceremonial lighting of a lamp by Smt Umanjali Mishra, the President of BWWA Shillong. The event featured cultural performances by children of BSF personnel.
The programme was attended by the families of local BSF Battalions, Sector and Frontier HQ BSF Meghalaya. During this occasion, the President of BWWA distributed essential items to the widows of BSF personnel and commended the association’s significant contribution to the betterment of BSF families.
She urged BWWA to engage in a range of activities, including vocational training, computer literacy, educational programs and health initiatives, to address the needs of BSF families comprehensively.
