SHILLONG, MAY 6: Acting on a specific input, BSF troops of the ex-73 battalion posted at the Gumaghat border outpost, launched a special operation and seized 17 kg of Hemp worth Rs. 85,000 in South West Khasi Hills district on Sunday while it was being smuggled to Bangladesh.
A press release issued here, the BSF during the course of the last week also seized 8250 bottles of Phensedyl, 312 bottles of liquor, 10 kg Hemp, forest produce and other contraband items worth about Rs. 3,29,835. “The seized items have been handed over to concerned department for further disposal and legal action as per law of the land,” the release said.
The BSF said it has always been its endeavor to keep a strict vigil and deny any smuggling of psychotropic substances, narcotics and alcohol to Bangladesh. “In this task, the BSF is also seeking the help of BGB,” added the release. (By Our Reporter)
