SHILLONG, JAN 21: A former school teacher was rescued by the BSF from the clutches of kidnappers when they were trying to shift him along the Indo-Bangla border in South Garo hills district.
Sixty-five year-old Robinson R Marak, an ex-teacher, was saved by BSF while he was being shifted by kidnappers along the international border near Fakirakona in South Garo hills, a BSF official said.
The incident took place on Tuesday, when a group of kidnappers were moving on zero line, he said. The BSF official said the security forces challenged the kidnappers who escaped taking advantage of the thick and dark jungle.
One person was caught and later identified as Robinson R Marak(Ex-teacher) who had been kidnapped from his residence in Chambalgiri village under Baghmara police station since December 17, the BSF said.
According to the official, earlier on December 29, one kidnapper was also killed on international border of BOP Debram in a joint operation launched by BSF and police, while trying to get the kidnapped teacher released.- By Our Reporter
