SHILLONG, MAR 13: The BSF seized 37 cartons containing 5,550 bottles of Phensedyl from a truck in East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya.
The seizure was made after a Mobile-Check-Post (MCP) laid by BSF troops, intercepted a Tripura bound truck (3118 Tata Truck 12-wheeler) registration no TR-IT-1625 carrying Phensedyl.
The truck was said to have been carrying Palmolein oil.
The BSF also seized 1,100 tins of Palmolein Oil. The total value of the seized items is around Rs 38, 16,487, the official said.
The BSF took the driver of the truck who has been identified as Tapal Nama Das (25 years) into custody. He hails from Ambassa village under Dhulai district of Tripura. The co-driver was also apprehended.
Indian currency amounting to Rs 1,900, one Nokia mobile phone and one SIM card were also recovered from the possession of the driver and co-driver.
It is learnt that the owner of the truck loaded Phensedyl in Guwahatito be taken to Agartala.
The item has been handed over to East Jaintia Hills district police for further action.- By Our Reporter
