SHILLONG, JUNE 22: A Bangladeshi smuggler was arresyed by the Border Security Forces (BSF) while he was trying to crossover to Bangladesh along the Indo-Bangla border in South Garo hills district.He has been identified as Sudarshan Rechil (50) from Dumnikora village under Mymensingh district, Bangladesh, BSF officials said.
BSF official said, huge quantity of betel nuts was also recovered from his possession.
In another incident, the BSF seized 3,070 bamboo, 24,450 kgs coal, 200.680 cft wooden logs, while it was being smuggled out to Bangladesh through Simsang River.
According to BSF official, after the incessant rainfall in Meghalaya, the increased water level in the rivers smugglers attempted to smuggle goods through rivers and nullahs. The BSF however said determined BSF troops are keeping a regular vigil to foil any such attempt and have succeeded to make several seizures.- By Our Reporter
