SHILLONG, JAN 9: Eight Bangladeshis were apprehended with arms by the Border Security Force (BSF) while they were trying to infiltrate from Bangladesh to Indian territory along the Indo-Bangla border in South Garo hills district.
The Bangladeshis were apprehended after a tiring and long 18 hours strenuous night operation involving more than 100 BSF personnel including officers, subordinate officers and jawans, BSF officials said in a statement on Friday.
The apprehended Bangladeshis suspected to be involved in kidnapping cases have been identified as Ashraf Md (19), Abu Hanifa (18), Md Abul Hossain, Rafiqul(20), Abdul Rahim (30), Suruj Miya (25), Md Sadiqul (25), and Nazmul Hasen (25), all of Mymensing district of Bangladesh, BSF informed.
During the search, one 7.65 mm pistol with magazine, 01 round and 01 Khukuri, 1 dao and 2 mobile phones were recovered from their possession by the BSF. All the apprehended BSF are kidnappers and involved in trans-border kidnapping activities, BSF officials said.
All the apprehended Bangladeshis and the seized items have been handed over to concerned department for legal action.- By Our Reporter
