SHILLONG, JUN 22: The Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday said the force has achieved hundred percent vaccination of its personnel against COVID-19.
The BSF troops in the state were badly hit and at one point of time maximum positive cases were from the force.
However with the arrival of the COVID-19 vaccine, a massive vaccination drive was undertaken by BSF. As a result, today BSF troops are almost free from COVID-19.
The movement of troops for various courses, election, other duties and for leave etc is an integral and important aspect of the functioning of BSF and it can’t be fully curtailed.
Under such circumstances covid vaccination has proved a game changer in bringing down the positivity rate among the BSF troops to the lowest.
Those who are affected have either asymptomatic or mild symptoms and their recovery is noted to be very fast in comparison to the non-vaccinated persons.
BSF IG Hardeep Singh has expressed thankfulness to the state civil administration for providing sufficient vaccine and to the entire medical fraternity of the BSF for having managed this pandemic with great dedication and hard work.
He added that after vaccination of BSF troops, the vaccination of ladies and children above 18 years of age is going on and it is likely to be completed soon.
The IG further asserted that vaccination is the most potent weapon in the fight against COVID-19 and every citizen of the country should come forward and get vaccinated on priority.
