Bombs recovered, security intensified

Shillong, Nov 3:  Three IED bombs- one weighing five kilograms and the remaining two weighing two kilograms each- were recovered by the West Garo hills police from Nalnapara road  that is six kilometers away from Kherapara-Dalu road  Saturday morning.

The three bombs have been taken to a secure place and till 8. 45 pm the bomb squad were defusing the three bombs. According to the West Garo hills SP MK Singh the three bombs were found at about 9.30 am Saturday.

Speaking to www.ohmeghalaya.com over the phone, Singh said, “ We received the information about movement of militants and also the bomb and immediately rushed the CRPF’s COBRA and the state police SWAT to the place.” He informed that the militants fled as soon as they got wind of the special police squad.

Singh said that the security forces special squad found the three bombs on the road and immediately alerted the bomb disposal squad. He said massive manhunt has been launched to nab the militants.

Singh said Nalnapara road in to used frequently by the public. He informed, “This road is used regularly by the security forces that goes for operation against the militants.”

Police suspected that three bombs could have been planted by the GNLA.  Police sources said, “We suspect that the bombs were planted by the GNLA cadres led by Hedeo yesterday.” Security has been intensified in the area to ensure safety of the people.- By Our Reporter
