Bolero case:Mafia suspected

SHILLONG, AUG 17: The Ri Bhoi police suspects the involvement of timber smugglers into Friday’s incident when a group of masked men set ablaze a Bolero belonging to the forest department’s range officer Francis Nongpoh at the office compound of the forest department located at Byrnihat in Ri-Bhoi district.

Ri Bhoi SP CVC Reddy told this website said, “We suspect miscreants who indulge in smuggling of timbers to be involved in the incident.”

On Friday, at least ten masked miscreants entered into the jurisdiction of forest department (CTI) office and directly went about setting the Bolero (ML 01 -1838) belonging to the range office in Nongpoh on fire.

Reddy ruled out that the ngos were behind the burning of the vehicle.He said that the police  so far has not received any clue into the incident but investigation into the incident is in progress. The police are also making efforts to nab the culprits.-   By Our Reporter
