SHILLONG, OCT 7: Dismissing talks of jitters within the ruling NPP over BJP’s growing numbers in the Assembly, cabinet minister and NPP leader Wailadmiki Shylla on Wednesday said the party is “stronger than before” and the recent meeting was routine, not panic-driven.
Asked if the NPP is having sleepless nights after the BJP’s strength went up, Shylla said, “No, I don’t think so.”
“Yes, like you mentioned, just last night we had a meeting, but that meeting was nothing new because we have a practice where we meet once every three months,” he said.
“So yesterday’s meeting was also part of that, where we sat among ourselves and discussed governance and other things. So that is just a part of what we usually do,” Shylla said.
On the recent political shifts, he said such changes are normal.
“Regarding this political development, as we all know, in politics it keeps on changing, it is dynamic. So we don’t have much to say on that,” he said.
“Especially, you would notice the shift is from the government to the government, there was not a shift from the government to the opposition or something like that,” Shylla said.
“So NPP is having sleepless nights, I don’t think at all. Yesterday also everyone was there and we are stronger than before,” he added.
