SHILLONG, APR 1: Meghalaya unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) slammed the Congress for its failure to bring about any development in the state. Addressing a rally recently in the city, BJP candidate Shibun Lyngdoh said that the sitting MP Vincent Pala had made many promise of cleaning Umiam reservoir but no step has been taken by the MP yet.
Lyngdoh said Pala and the state government were claiming of saving Wahumkhrah river through a central project but till date the river continues to be in deplorable condition and is dying a slow death.
Stating that the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had raised concerns over the death of Nido Taniam when he was killed in New Delhi but he did not raise such concerns when two people were burnt alive in Shillong.
Lyngdoh also told the rally that Narendra Modi fever has gripped the country including Shillong and the BJP is definitely forming the next government at the centre.
Lyngdoh also claimed that the north east region with its problem holds a special place in the heart of the BJP. The party will be holding similar rallies in different parts of the state ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.- By Our Reporter
