“We have decided to reshuffle the party particularly in Garo Hills to further strengthening our preparation for the upcoming 2018 elections,” BJP state president Shibun Lyngdoh told reporters at a news conference held here.
He said the exercise is also to ensure new leaders, who can work to the maximum for the party, are accommodated.
Lyngdoh informed that Dillash Marak have been appointed as the new president of the Tura City District, which was earlier headed by former chairman of the disbanded ANVC.B Bernard N Marak.
While Paul R Marak will take charge over as the president of the North Garo Hills District after the post was lying vacant following the resignation of Bachu Marak, he said.
Both Bernard and Bachu had resigned from the BJP over beef issue. The party had taken strong cognizance on a post in social media where the former leader had announced organizing beef party to celebrate three years of Modi’s government.
Asked, the state president said that the exercise is a normal procedure and added that he has nothing to say against the decision (to resign) of the two leaders as they are trying to bring people who can work for the party.
“In political party, people come to work for the party and seek for ticket and if they don’t get they resign and say your house is not proper,” he said.
The other new presidents appointed include – Rakesh Marak – East Garo Hills District, Pesath Sangma – West Garo Hills District, Ananda Koch – South West Garo Hills District and Banbuhai Makdoh – Ri Bhoi District.
Meanwhile, the party also appointed 11 district incharge for Garo Hills for the year 2017-19.
BJP vice president Edmund Sangma have been appointed as district in-charge of Tura City, Rikman Momin – East Garo Hills, Dr KC Boro – West Garo Hills (Tikrikilla, Phulbari, Raksamgre, Rajabala), Pramod Koch – West Garo Hills (Selsella, Dadenggre), Santosh Marak – South Garo Hills, Premananda Koch – South West Garo Hills and Digros D Shira – North Garo Hills and Md Sofior Rahman as president of the Minority Morcha.
