SHILLONG, AUG 17: BJP leader and Pynthorumkhrah MLA Alexander Laloo Hek on Monday said the party has identified its failure to win more than 2 Assembly seats as a “complex” issue and is taking steps to overcome it ahead of the 2028 elections.
“We have done lots of survey work. It is a complex situation. But now we have realised this complexity, and we are going to sort it out one by one as much as we can reach out,” Hek told reporters.
He, however, refused to name sitting and former legislators reportedly interested in joining the BJP, citing the dynamism of politics.
“The big names we don’t want to publish now. In politics, as long as you can keep it confidential, it is better for the party,” he said.
“Many big names are very interested to join the party, but we will not give you any name now. Sitting legislators are also there and ex-MLAs are also there. But it is too early to name them because politics can change overnight,” Hek added.
He also called for greater youth participation in politics, saying “it is high time to involve the youth.”
