SHILLONG, JAN 11: Hundred of bikers participated at the bike rally organized in the city to commemorate the celebration of the National Youth Day as part of the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on Saturday.
Over hundred of bikers who identified themselves with the spirit, philosophy and teaching of Swami Vivekananda cutting across communities and from all parts of society participated in the rally that passed through the city streets.
The bikers wearing a white cap imprinted with the caption ‘National Youth Day’ carried messages of the great patriot and teacher of India.
Organized by the Ramakrishna Mission Shillong, the bike rally was flagged off by the East Khasi hills district deputy commissioner Sanjay Goyal from Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Laitumkhrah.
Later in the afternoon, at the same venue a blood donation camp was organized in collaboration with Meghalaya Aids Control Society with the participation of thirty eight donors .
The main celebration will be held at Vivekananda Cultural Centre on January 13, with a formal meeting to be followed by cultural programme and an alumni meet of the students of the institute.
Meghalaya governor Dr KK Paul will be the chief guest.- By Our Reporter
