SHILLONG, JULY 11: The district administration of Ri- Bhoi will provide police protection to vehicles plying along the Guwahati Shillong national highway during the two-night-long road blockade called by Ri Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF) fromThursday night. The blockade starts from 8pm to 5 am on Thursday and Friday.
Akashdeep, the district deputy commission, informed that police will provide scout to vehicles from point to point.
The night road blockade is called by the RBYF as the government refused to reinstated Meghalaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA) two casual employees Hundalin Warjri and Subita Lapang who had been dismissed by the authority.
Section 144 CrPC has been imposed in the district prohibiting any obstruction to vehicular movements in view of the two-night-long road. Security has also been beefed along the highway and patrolling has been intensified.
Ri Bhoi SP CVS Reddy informed that seven platoons of state police are manning the entire national highway to ensure that no untoward incident takes place during the bandh. He said, “So far no incident has taken place and we are on high alert.”
Beside the RBYF is demanding withdrawal of FIR against its members and also to stop the manhunt by the police.- By Our Reporter
