Certificate (HSSLC-commerce) and St Anthony’s school Amaayaa Goswami kept the flag flying for his school by securing 1st class first in the science stream,
The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) on Monday declared the 2016 results of the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) for the three streams – science, commerce and vocational.
St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School swept as many as eight positions in the science stream and five in the commerce stream.
The school has managed to secure the first top-ten position in science stream and second-top position in the commerce stream.
Meanwhile, Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Jowai and RK Mission Higher Secondary School, Cherrapunjee shared the second place in the first ten positions for science stream.
Of the total 3586 students including 1869 female candidates, 2670 students cleared the HSSLC science stream examination with the total percentage of 74.46 per cent.
In commerce stream, 2184 students appeared for the examination, 1542 were declared successful recording 70.60 percent
Berister Swer of Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Jowai and Sourav Pathak of RK Mission Higher Secondary School, Cherrapunjee bagged the second position in the science stream while Sagnik Choudhury of St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School secured the second position in the commerce stream.
Meanwhile, East Jaintia Hills District registered the highest pass percentage in Science stream with 89.66 per cent, followed by West Khasi Hills District with 83.18 per cent, while North Garo Hills Hills District has the lowest percentage of pass with 39.19 per cent.
However, East Khasi Hills district considered as the seat of education centers registered 76.96 percentage of pass with 1640 of the 2131 cleared the examination.
In the commerce examination, North Garo Hills District (7 students appeared) and East Garo Hills District (33 students) shared a 100 percentage of pass followed by East Jaintia Hills District and South West Khasi Hills District with 81.82 per cent.
However, East Khasi Hills district which has 1597, the maximum of candidates appeared, 1154 passed the examination. The percentage of pass in the district was 72.26 per cent.
Meanwhile in the vocational stream, 5 out of 6 candidates appeared for the exams were declared as successful.-By Our Reporter
