SHILLONG, JAN 22: The proscribe Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) has call for twenty-one hour bandh to opposed the celebration of the 64th Republic Day.
The bandh will be effective from 10 pm of January 25 to 6 pm on January 26, However church goers, ambulances and members of the press are excluded as they will be permitted to move during the bandh, HNLC publicity secretary Sainkupar Nongtraw said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Nongtraw said, “The bandh is to show our strong protest against the illegal celebration of the Republic day in the state.”
According to the HNLC, Meghalaya did not get the so claimed republic with its consent but was forcibly made to sign the instrument of accession and annexed agreement in 1948. Nongtraw said, “We are victims under Indian Terrorism.”
