SHILLONG, APR 4: Former minister ECB Bamon has rejoined the Congress at a meeting held in the party office here on Thursday.
He was formally welcomed by the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) chief Dr Celestine Lyngdoh in the presence of working president, James S Lyngdoh, MLA Shitlang Pale besides functionaries of the party.
In his speech, Lyngdoh hoped that with the rejoining of Bamon, the party will be strengthen in the state in general and Jaintia Hills region in particular.
Bamon was also the former chief executive member of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC). He left the Congress and joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and later with the National People’s Party (NPP).
However it was in July 2017, Bamon, a loyalist of late Purno Agitok Sangma, decided to quit the NPP citing that the party has no future under the new leadership of the two Sangma brothers – Conrad and James.
