SHILLONG, JAN 18: West Garo hills deputy commissioner Pravin Bakshi said he is waiting for the direction of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) before he proceed to hold an inquiry into the encounter that killed four ANVC(B) militants in Tura.
According to Bakshi the Tura police have already filed its report on the incident with the NHRC. However, he said the district administration will not be able to proceed with the inquiry into the incident before getting the direction from the NHRC.
Bakshi said, “I am now waiting for the direction of the NHRC to conduct a thorough inquiry as per the parameters of the commission.”
Hours after a crude bomb attack next to a petrol station in the heart of Tura allegedly orchestrated by suspected ANVC (B) militants, police commandos shot dead four militants belonging to the outfit in a major gun battle that took place between Dobasipara and Darenggre village on the outskirts of Tura town.
The ANVC (B) , however, is accusing the Tura police of killing the four ANVC(B) militants in fake encounter. A day after the crude bomb attack, a new militant group styled as the A’chik Tiger Force (ATF) claim responsibility of the bomb attack at Tura.
Meantime Bakshi has assured that the district administration would conduct a free, fair and impartial inquiry which will be headed by an ADM ranked officer.- By Our Reporter
