Shillong, August 11: Hundreds of bystanders, mostly youngsters, cheered and waved as the Red Ribbon Clubs (RRC) staged a “Flash Mob” at the Meghalaya Urban Development Complex (MUDA) on Saturday as part of the International Youth Day organized by the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society.
Wearing red t-shirt the members of RRC- who are students of different colleges in the city- dance to the tune of music as members of the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society launched an awareness campaign about AIDS and HIV.
Like every year, a theme is chosen for the International Youth Day and this year the theme is–Building a Better World: Partnering with Youth. The Meghalaya AIDS control society has been campaigning against the spread of AIDS by creating awareness especially among the youths.
MUDA was a fun-filled place to be on Saturday afternoon as the atmosphere was electrifying with hundreds of people- mostly youths- enjoying the “Flash Mob” and even swaying along with the RRC dancers with the catchy red t-shirt.
Having grabbed the eyeball of the people, the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society members would punctuate Flash Mob with awareness campaign about AIDS and HIV.
A bystander who was enjoying the entire show said, “ Wow, what a great way of spreading awareness, so flashy, enjoyable yet very effective than the run of the mill type of programme of poster campaigning and seminars.” – By Our Reporter
