Attempt to burn office

SHILLONG, SEPT 24: An Alto ML 05 2771 entered the BDO office at Mawrengkneng campus at around 1 am on Tuesday but fled away on seeing the police. However the vehicle was intercepted at Mawnang and police seized and arrested twenty-seven years old Bankerlang Syiemlieh and remanded to three days police custody.

East Khasi hills SP M Kharkhrang said that on interrogation it was revealed Syiemlieh and another person identified as the Mawrengkneng KSU unit general secretary Peter Lawai, who had escaped from the police dragnet, had entered the BDO office compound with an intention of setting it on fire.

Kharkhrang informed that an alert police averted the burning of the government building and police are on the lookout for Lawai.- By Our Reporter
