Assam firm NESS on KHADC blacklist stil in tender race, alleges KHNAM

SHILLONG, APR 27: Despite being blacklisted by the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council for violating trading regulations, Assam-based manpower firm NESS is still bidding for government contracts, the Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) alleged on Monday.

Citing the KHADC Chief Executive Member’s press statement, KHNAM said the council had blacklisted NESS for breaching the Trading by Non-Tribal Regulation 1954.

“As per the press statement of the Chief Executive Member of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council, it is informed that the KHADC have black listed the NESS (a company from Assam which runs a firm for providing manpower services to various department) because they have violated the trading by non-Tribal Regulation 1954,” said KHNAM working president Thomas Passah.

He added that the firm’s trading license for a contract at KV Laitkor had also been cancelled. “It was also informed that the Trading Licensed issued to this firm for a contract work at KV Laitkor was also revoke,” it said.

KHNAM, however, claimed NESS continues to operate in violation of the ban.

“However, we have received information that this Firm is still actively taking part in tenders publish by the various Department,” Passah said.

The party alleged the firm has even cleared technical rounds in a recent bid.

“Currently this Firm have participated and have also qualified in the tender published by the KV, Shillong Peak,” Passah said.

KHNAM said it has formally flagged the issue to the council. “We have officially intimated this to the KHADC, CEM hoping that immediate action is taken against this firm,” it added.
