SHILLONG, MAR 2: Self-styled “Commander-in-Chief” of the A’chik Songna An’Pachakgipa Kotok (ASAK) Reding T Sangma surrendered with arms along with eight of his cadres in South Garo Hills District.
The entire ASAK militant group led by Reding alias Saljapang of Mindikgre surrendered before the district police chief Abraham T Sangma on Thursday in the presence of government officials, church leaders, members of peace forum and NGOs.
Reding, 37, also deposited one HK rifle along with 128 rounds of HK Ammunition, 1 HK magazine, three SBBL guns, 18 numbers of 12 bore cartridges, 4 walkie-talkie sets, 31 seals of ASAK, demand pads, 22 electronic detonators and explosive powders.
The others who surrendered included Tengrang A Sangma @ Gring (18), Pintu R Marak @ Waira (19), Kiljang M Sangma @ Amrak (17) Seldom K Sangma @Jorai (25) besides over ground workers – Hame Ch Marak (25), Biani Ch Marak (28) and Tengman M Sangma (28).
