SHILLONG, JULY 13: Two arms smugglers, who are suspected of aiding militants, were apprehended by the BSF in South Garo hills on Sunday. BSF deployed at Damdama apprehended one Indian national along with one gun (Indian muzzale loaded gun with pellet chere) while he was trying to cross over to Bangladesh, BSF officials informed.
The BSF official said the accused has been identified as Tarseng Ch Marak (20) of Damdama village under Baghmara police station.
Further on his lead information, a special operation was launched by BSF and another person identified as Jackson Sangma (25) of Rasanagiri village was also apprehended from his house.
From his possession, one more Indian muzzale loaded gun with pellet chere was recovered. According to the BSF officials, Sangma has been involved in manufacturing arms illegally and he is suspected to be helping militants in the area.
Both the apprehended persons have been handed over to the police, they said.
In another incident, BSF troops at Chokpot alongwith Meghalaya police laid a Mobile Checking at Raja Ronggot, under Chokpot police station and nabbed two persons identified as Raksonga Momin (31) and Medilin Ch Momin(18) with a bike bearing Reg No-ML-13-1142.
Seven detonators, PEK-250 gm, safety fuse-24 inches were recovered from their possession. Both of them are from Darengre village of the district.-By Our Reporter
