SHILLONG, SEPT 15: The A’chik National Volunteers’ Council –B (ANVC-B) complained that the state government has sidelined the outfit by failing to communicate about the official proceedings on the ‘Suspension of Operation (SoO)’ even as no support or assistance is being provided despite signing the ‘peace pact’.
“There have been no official proceedings on the Suspension of Operation (SoO) communicated so far besides assistance to the outfit so far,” ANVC.B general secretary Jakrik Wareng A Sangma said in a letter to the chief minister Mukul Sangma recently.
In the letter, Sangma said that the recent allegations that the ANVC-B are staying away from the SoO is ‘absurd’ and totally ‘false’ as it is the government who is turning a blind eye despite the cooperation and patience shown by the outfit at their own cost for last nine months.
“We appeal to you (CM) to strongly instruct the concerned department to visit our camps and do the needful instead of making wrong highlights,” the statement said.
According to the ANVC(B) leader, the outfit has come forward from the day it signed the “Peace Pact” on January 5 earlier this year and cooperated with no remorse despite continued police action against them that resulted in the death of some of their cadres.
Informing about the willingness and cooperation shown by the ANVC(B) to usher peace in Garo hills after signing the “Peace Pact”, the ANVC(B) said it build their our own camps near Tura and after that the outfit have been calling up concerned officers for proceedings for the official SoO without any success, the statement said.
Informing the invitation sent to state home minister Roshan Warjri to visit the outfit’s camp in Tura, the militant leader lamented saying she met the ANVC leaders but avoided meeting us,” even as it questioned the whether the government’s acknowledging officially their entry into the peace pact or the outfit is being cheated.
Stating that the outfit have never got any support from the government, the statement said, “We are managing on our own and staying at our own expenses without any official complaint till today.”-By Our Reporter
