SHILLONG, JAN 14: Denying the accusation of the nexus of chief minister Mukul Sangma with his militant outfit, the ANVC (B ) chairman Rimpu Marak said that the political secretary Ajaju’s allegation is a fabricated, baseless and a desperate attempt to disrupt the peace settlement

Marak said in a statement on Tuesday, “He was aggressive, hostile, destructive and always on a verge of explosion and he is responsible for the unprecedented action at Edenbari which led to confusion of my cadres.” He said that Ajaju, who since he posted the open letter to the media had left the organization,  is suspected to be one among four who were shot by police last Saturday.

Rimpu Marak also felt that there should be a reconciliation meeting for peace and it should be organised by the concerned authorities. He said he did not sign the peace agreement with the government to wage war but to bring peace and after signing of the peace pact it was his duty as the ANVC (B) leader to bring the cadres to mainstream which he did.

Marak said that the government t must acknowledge that without proper rehabilitation Garo hills will not see any change.   Stating that there was a big misunderstanding, he clarified that outfit did not file any FIR with the police on the missing cadres of ANVC (B).

Marak asserted,“I did not authorise anyone to file an FIR and  it looks like somebody did it in our name leading to grave misunderstanding.”  He felt that the police shoukd have first authenticated the FIR before sending police team to their camp.

He felt that the government must ensure the safety and security of the ANVC (B) cadres who  have joined the mainstream.- By Our Reporter
