TURA, DEC 14: It is expected that 447 cadres from ANVC and 253 from ANVC – B will be present at the disbanding ceremony on Monday as both the outfits will formally lay down their listed arms.
ANVC chairman Dilash Marak told the media on Sunday that the ANVC will lay down 33 small arms and 37 big arms, which includes AKs.”
Both the ANVC and its breakaway faction ANVC – B will be disbanded at a ceremony to be held at Diki Bandi stadium, Dakopgre.
The state government has made an elaborate arrangement for the ceremony for at least the 700 cadres from both the outfit.
The venue has been put under tight security cover with deployment of
security personnel round the clock. The bomb and dog squads of Meghalaya police inspected the venue this morning. The venue has been put under CCTV surveillance. The government has invited the public to attend the disband ceremony through newspaper advertisement and outdoor publicity.
The venue has been dressed up in a grand manner, which will also be used for the winter festival, which begins from Tuesday.
Meghalaya chief minister Mukul Sangma will attend the disbanding ceremony, which will begin from 11 am onwards. The top leadership of both the outfit – ANVC and ANVC-B has been inspecting the venue since early morning.
ANVC chairman, Dilash Marak told media, “ANVC will lay down 33 small arms and 37 big arms, which includes AKs”. ANVC and ANVC – B had signed the peace pact with the centre on September 24 in New Delhi in the presence of union home minister Rajnath Singh and chief minister Mukul Sangma, and other officials of the government of India.- From Our Correspondent
