SHILLONG, JUL 18: The ANVC (B) on Thursday asked the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) commander in chief Sohan D Shira to consider its invitation and see if he can be a part of the final peace settlement.
“Sohan must reconsider our invitation and weigh the possibility of being part of the final settlement which is sure to pave way for real peace and safety of our people and cadres,” ANVC(B) publicity secretary Doang D Shira said in a statement issued Thursday.
Stating that the GNLA leader was once an ANVC cadre, Shira said, “He (Sohan) need to consider the people’s aspiration for peace by coming to one platform and work for the best of our people’s interest.” He also added, “There is no hidden agenda in our intention to include Sohan other than to work together and share same status in building up our society which is in need of true and dynamic leaders.”
He, therefore, said that Sohan must understand the ANVC(B) is calling him to be part of nine year talk’s harvest as he was one of the signatories of the ANVC ceasefire agreement in 2004. – By Our Reporter
