ANVC (B): No camps

SHILLONG, FEB 20: The ANVC (B) expressed its concern over the inability of the state government to give them designated camps and rued that its cadres are scattered all over for want a safe place to reside.

The state government had recently proposed setting up of at least two designated camps for the ANVC (B) cadres.

ANVC(B), a militant group based in Garo Hills which did not sign any suspension of operations agreement, recently submitted a list of 150 cadres along with arms to the government through a letter addressed to Meghalaya additional director-general of police (special branch).

“We submitted our list as agreed but the government is dilly dallying causing inconveniences to our cadres and pushing them to adverse conditions,” AVC(B)  publicity secretary Doang D Shira said in a statement issued on Thursday.

Shira said that that ANVC(B )cadres are helplessly scattered and there is nothing the outfit  can do to safeguard its members since nothing constructive is coming out from the government side despite the outfit keeping its commitment.

Shira said,  “We called our cadres to come out from the jungle on assurance but failure to provide a designated camp on time has scatter them.”

Shira also informed that the ANVC (B) cadres were coming from Durama and were camping at the GNLA dominated area when someone from the stone quarry informed about some packets of rice were being donated but it was a GNLA ambush.

Shira lamented that the outfit is keeping its cadres without food and security that led to the killing of its cadres.

Stating that deserters from GNLA, UALA, LAEF, PLF and others form part of ANVC(B) Shira said that these cadres joined the outfit for a peaceful cause and they are still hunted by their members.- By Our Reporter
