ANVC (B) allege state govt treating Garos as second class citizens

Shillong, Nov 27: Alleging that the state government is treating the Garos as second class citizens and depriving them of “good governance” ignored both by the political as well as bureaucracy class, the ANVC (B) has threaten to take matters on its own hand by using its authority for the welfare of the Garo people.

Even as a statement issued by the ANVC(B) Tuesday alleged that the state government through its chief secretary WMS Parait has indulge in giving misinformation by denying that the government has receive the memorandum submitted by the breakaway faction of the militant outfit, the statement said that both the bureaucracy and the political class are “intentionally ignoring” Garo hills.

Asserting that the ANVC(B) had submitted a memorandum to the union home ministry as well as the state government through the special branch, the statement questioned as to how the chief secretary can deny receiving the memorandum.

The outfit leader Rimpu N Marak said,  “There is a foul play within the government.”

According to Marak, the outfit has submitted its memorandum on February 10, 2012 addressed to the then union home minister P Chidambaram with copies to the chief minister, home minister and the chief secretary through the special branch and by mail.

The statement also said that the state government  was only making promises of settlement with the outfit through words making the outfit subjects of their corrupt and ill-intended policies against the Garos is surfacing fast.

It said that the deteriorating law and order situation in Garo hills is a result of such policies and if not rectified the outfit will use its authority in Garo hills.- By Our Reporter
