SHILLONG, MAR 30: All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary (in-charge Meghalaya) Luizinho Faleiro said he has reports alleging that in some constituencies for the Shillong Lok Sabha seat, Congress leaders and workers are trying to sabotage the party prospect to retain the seat by working against party candidate Vincent Pala and directed Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) DD Lapang to neutralize the “saboteurs” at any cost.
Meghalaya goes to poll on April 9 for the two parliamentary seats during the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
In a letter written to Lapang, Faleiro said, “You are requested to ensure that these sabotages are nipped in the bud and the victory of the Congress candidates ensured at all costs.”
Faleiro letter stated that reports have suggested that in some constituencies, the Congress leaders are instigating Congress workers to sabotage the success of Congress candidates which are being seriously viewed by the high command.
Faleiro directed Lapang to employ all the might at his command to neutralize the saboteurs so that the party wins the seat.
The MPCC has also been directed to inspire the party’s leaders and workers to work for the win of the party candidate and their unity, solidarity and hard work will be sufficiently rewarded.
Faleiro said in his letter, “Any complaints against them (leaders and workers) of having indulged in anti-party work during elections and any non-compliance with these instructions, will lead to serious disciplinary action against the saboteurs even when the election process is on.”
Faleiro emphasized, “Every single parliamentary seat is crucial for the Congress Party.”
Faleiro also reminded that the Congress party who got the country the freedom from the British and assiduously protected the nation on the planks of inclusiveness, social cohesion and all round economic development besides others is locked in its electoral battle against communal and divisive forces.
Faleiro, therefore, appealed saying this is the time for ail Congress men and women regardless of rank and office to come together as a family to strengthen the hands of the Congress president Sonia Gandhi and the Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, who himself is leading the current electoral campaign.- By Our Reporter
