SHILLONG, MAY 2: The Meghalaya government will enact a new law to be known as the “Anatomy Act”. This will be for the first time that the state will have such a legislation.
“We have approved the proposal for enactment of the Anatomy Act in Meghalaya, which is not there in the state for the past many years,” health minister Roshan Warjri told reporters after a Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday.
She said that the Anatomy Act, which is also being implemented in other states of the country, is necessary for supply of unclaimed bodies to medical colleges.
“The decision was in view of the fact that the state also has a medical college in NEIGHRIMS,” Warjri said while informing that the Act will be implemented after it is being introduced in the next session of the Assembly.
