SHILLONG, JAN 12: The A’chik Mother’s Association (AMA), a Tura ngos, has expressed concern on the prevailing law & order situation in Garo hills districts. The AMA has also termed Saturday’s bomb blast near Hawakhana petrol pump as most unfortunate.
AMA secretary Babyona M Sangma said, “The deteriorating law and order situation in Garo hills is a matter of concern. We appeal to the government to take adequate steps to bring the situation under control”.
AMA though has welcomed the operation against militant outfit at Darengagal near Chunmati Dobasipara in Tura but has raised its objection against the police for picking up 15 people from the militants the hideout on Sunday morning.
Sangma said, “They are locals, who had gone to the hideout to see what had happened last night. They are innocent. We urge the government to release them”.
In a major crackdown, State police gunned down four hardcore rebel of Achik National Volunteers Council (ANVC-B) at Darengagal near Chunmati Dobasipara in Tura, West Garo Hills on Saturday night.
Police had continued its search operation till Sunday afternoon and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition.- By Our Reporter
