Alignment of Pynursla Bypass finalized: Govt

Deputy Chief Minister in-charge PWD (Roads) Prestone Tynsong Tuesday informed that the alignment of the Pynursla Bypass, which is part of the package-III of the Shillong Dawki road project, has been finalised.

He termed the allegations made in an affidavit filed before the Meghalaya High Court that the alignment for the bypass could not be finalised due to objections raised by local people as “wrong”.

“I am so happy to inform you that ultimately even the community and even the land owners have already agreed and the final alignment done by the state PWD and NHIDCL has been forwarded to the Ministry of Road Transport and headquarter of NHIDCL. And recently when I was in Delhi I had a detailed meeting with all the concerned officials and I am sure very soon we will be able to get the sanction,” Tynsong told reporters.

“I think that is wrong (affidavit filed before the Court). Of late because we involved all the local headmen, all the executive members of the localities, even the land owners, we have involved everybody and we went to the spot not only taking a decision from a community hall or from a place where all of us we are just sitting but due inspection was conducted in presence of local authority and in presence of the SDO Civil, ADM incharge Revenue, NHIDCL representatives and engineers from State PWD and finalisation has ultimately has happened as far as alignment as Pynursla Bypass is concerned,” he added.

According to him, the length of the Pynursla  bypass is around 10-13 kilometres.

Earlier, Tynsong said that initially the survey for the alignment of the bypass was kept on hold due  to misunderstanding here and there between NHIDCL and the local authority.

“But in the recent months what happened was that a resurvey was conducted and then we have from the state government convinced the traditional heads and then the landowners to cooperate and also to see the necessity of having a Pynursla Bypass,” he said.
