AITC’s stand on ILP is clear: Pyngrope

SHILLONG, FEB 10: AITC state president Charles Pyngrope on Friday said that the party’s stand is very clear on the demand for implementation of the inner line permit (ILP) in the state.

Pyngrope told reporters that the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly had unanimously passed a resolution that “we want ILP to be implemented in the state”.

The Nongthymmai legislator however said unfortunately, the central government till date has not answered on the resolution.

“They (Centre) have not given any particular concrete answer,” he added.

He was responding to a query as to why TMC had not raised the ILP issue in Parliament.

AITC MP from West Bengal Derek O’Brien however assured that the party will also take up the issue in parliament.

“Give us a chance. The parliament session is going to start again on March 13. We put our money where our mouth is. We will keep raising issues not only come here in press conferences and say we will raise, we will keep raising, it is an ongoing process…,”he said.

“We are a political party. We want to tell the people of Meghalaya that you elect a TMC government, you’re of the people of Meghalaya, for the people of Meghalaya and by the people of Meghalaya. This government will not be run by us. We are only here to amplify and partner,” he further asserted.
