Shillong, Sept 4: Aircel mobile provider has admitted its faulty service in Mairang and surrounding areas due because of frequent power cut and defective battery back-up.
Federation of Khasi Jaiñtia and Garo People (FKJGP) Mairang circle president and general secretary Bobby Basaïawmoit and Humble Wahlang respectively told www.ohmeghalaya.com after their meeting with Aircel representatives. “We discussed at length with Aircel Network Head Damanbha Lotto, GTL Meghalaya assistant manager Devojit Nath, Aircel manager Teibor Lyngwa and sale manager Kevin Shullai, after which they gave us in writing an explanation to the cause of poor connectivity,” Basaïawmoit said. Irked by poor connectivity the FKJGP had shut down the Reliance Tower at Lyngdoh Masi on 27th December 2011 and also the Aircel at Pyndengumiong (Mairang). According to the written explanation the four towers namely MAI 001 at Pyndengumiong and MAI 002 at Mairang Mawlong where power supply was disconnected by the Meghalaya Electric Corporation Ltd., (MeECL) on August 22, 2012, along with MAI 005 at Bynther and NOM 001 at Nongum which were defective in the DG and Battery Backup were the cause for the poor connectivity.
