SHILLONG, OCT 2: West Garo Hills district administration is looking for more proofs and evidences against Garo National Council (GNC) legislator Clifford Marak for his alleged ideological support to GHSMC members who entered Tura DC office and allegedly assaulted the employees some days ago.
West Garo hills deputy commissioner Pravin Bakshi said that GHSMC leader Augustine Marak, who is under arrest, has admitted that they were receiving the ideological support of Clifford Marak. Twenty five GHSMC members were arrested after they trespassed into the DC office at Tura last month and allegedly molested women employees.
Bakshi said that the GHSMC members clearly violated section 144 orders and it is a clear case of criminal trespassing.
Responding to a specific query, Bakshi defended the arrests of the GHSMC members saying that the district administration has specific evidence based video footage .
When inquired the reason for shifting the arrested GHSMC members to Jowai district jail, Bakshi said they were removed from Tura jail for their own safety as reports had came in about the growing tension inside the jail and there could have been a brawl at any moment if they were not removed from the jail.
To a query whether the arrested GHSMC members would be released unconditionally, Bakshi said that the district administration has no say now and all legal decision has to be taken by the court .
However a GHSMC member who is blind has been granted bail by the court and accordingly he is released.– By Our Reporter
