SHILLONG, MAR 20: Shillong Lok Sabha seat Aam Admi Party (AAP) candidate Armerington Kharshiing expressed confidence that the electorates of the Shillong parliamentary seat will vote for him in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.“We are amateurs in corruption but we are experts in politics” Kharshiing said after filing his nomination papers on Thursday.
When asked why he wanted to fight elections, the AAP candidate, who is a former Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer, said that it was useless to sit on the sidelines and complain about the prevailing political system in the country.
“We need to be part of the system to clean up corruption,” Kharshiing said. He also said that he did not enter politics with the idea to earn money but his responsibility would be to see the welfare of the poorer sections of society.
Kharshiing felt that there is a need to create hope to weed out corruption from the country.
Kharshhing also said that he will seek votes from the electorates solely only on the agenda of Jan Lok Pal Bill to bring about a new political; system in the country.
Kharshiing also said that if the Jan Lok Pal Bill is passed then the political system in the country will become transparent and benefit the people at the grass root level.- By Our Reporter
