On an exposure trip from Denmark, footballer Eugeneson Lyngdoh answered questions mailed to him by Oh! Meghalaya Associate Editor Suraj Joshi. Excerpts from the exclusive mail-based interview:
Q. How is the exposure trip to Denmark going?
Eugeneson Lyngdoh: The exposure trip is a great experience and an eye opener. What I have learnt over the past 2 weeks will be invaluable and will help me to become a better player . I would like to thank FCV , Anglian and SLFC for making this trip possible for the three of us .
Q. How will you compare the training you are getting in Denmark with that of Shillong?
Lyngdoh: Football is a universal game. The game does not really change but only the manner in which you are coached. For most of us in Shillong, coaching starts very late but in Denmark they start coaching kids at the age of eight years or so. Their bases are very sound.
Q. What are the difference you found as far as infrastructure is concerned in India, especially in Shillong and Slagelse, Denmark during your first week?
Lyngdoh: The infrastructure is good and well maintained in Denmark. I think if we could have the same infrastructure and maintain it well it will be a good step towards improving the standard of the game.
Q. After coming back to Shillong will you advice your former club, which is also the brain child of your father, Ar-Hima on the development, infrastructure and training of the club on the line of FC Vestsjæll?
Lyngdoh : There are many things which can be implemented in regard to infrastructure and even to the game’s philosophy but there are certain limitation too.
