SHILLONG, JAN 4: Four candidates of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) Meghalaya state has resigned from party ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls.
The candidates include Tony Marbaniang from North Shillong, Arelitha K Sangma from Selsella, Banrilang Jungai from Jowai and Denis Tynsiar from Pynursla.
Informing this here on Thursday, LJP state president Jamil Ahmed alleged that the resignation of the candidates was due to inability of party to meet with their monetary demands.
“Four of our candidates have resigned as the Party could not meet with their monetary demands ranging from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh,” he said in a statement.
Stating that the LJP is a party for the poor and does not have fund, Ahmed however said, “But at the same time we stick to our principles to serve the poor and bring a transparent and clean administration in the state. We reiterate our mission to bring power to the poor.”
He also claimed that resignation of the four candidates will not affect the working of the party and appeal to all supporters and well wishers to not come into influence of these outgoing persons.
Meanwhile, the state president said that the LJP will soon declare a fresh list of candidates and ensure that the election is not business but to contest for the service of the people.
