SHILLONG, JAN 24: The state on Monday recorded one more COVID-19 related death, mounting the number of fatalities to 1,498 even as 305 persons have tested positive for the virus, taking the total active cases to 2,257.
Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said the deceased has been identified as Sayedur Rehman (72) from Phulbari , West Garo Hills District.
According to him, the patient was tested Covid positive with comordities on being admitted at Tura civil hospital on Sunday.
Dr War also informed of the 305 new cases, 242 were detected in East Khasi Hills, 18 Ri Bhoi, 16 West Garo Hills, 8 West Jaintia Hills, 5 East Jaintia Hills, 5 North Garo Hills, 4 South West Khasi Hills, 2 Eastern West Khasi Hills, 2 South Garo Hills, 2 South West Khasi Hills and 1 West Khasi Hills.
He said that 168 persons have recovered from the viral infection of which 127 are from East Khasi Hills, 9 West Garo Hills, 9 Ri Bhoi, 8 East Jaintia Hills, 5 West Jaintia Hills, 4 South Garo Hills, 3 West Khasi Hills, 1 each in North Garo Hills, South West Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 88, 764 COVID-19 cases out of which 2,257 are active cases, 85,009 recovered and 1,498 deaths.
East Khasi Hills has the highest number of COVID-19 cases at 1,552 followed by West Garo Hills 325, Ri Bhoi 152, West Jaintia Hills 64, East Jaintia Hills 31, West Khasi Hills 26, Eastern West Khasi Hills 23, South West Garo Hills 23, South West Khasi Hills 17, South Garo Hills 16 North Garo Hills 16 and East Garo Hills 12.
