SHILLONG, APR 1: A 16-year-old boy, a class X student, was found dead at Umpling bridge on Tuesday.
East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem said, “The boy was brought dead to Bethany Hospital, where he was declared dead. He had left home at 1:30 pm and his parents received a call from his phone at 6 pm, saying he was at Umpling bridge.”
Syiem added, “The boy was found unconscious and bleeding from the nose. There’s no fatal injury on the body, except for nose bleed and discoloration of the upper lips. The body has been sent for post-mortem at NEIGRIHMS to ascertain the cause of death.”
Preliminary findings suggest no assault on the boy.
“Apparently, it doesn’t look like any form of assault as of now,” Syiem said, awaiting toxicology reports and post-mortem results for clarity.
